Christina Hall Pulls Off a $209,179 Reno For Her Childhood Friend

Dec 06, 2023

The California abode is located in the same area where the HGTV star grew up.

Christina Hall is finally renovating her childhood friend's home. In the latest episode of Christina on the Coast, the design expert revamped the kitchen, bar, main bathroom, and living room fireplace of her longtime friend's home—after talking about doing so for years.

During the episode, Christina explained: "I've known Carlos nearly 25 years. That's a very long time, and I know Carlos really well. He’s in the mortgage industry, and Carlos is all about the deal. So this is gonna be an interesting project because Carlos has, you know, high-end taste but he wants them 'on a deal.'"

Carlos and his wife, Natalie, moved into their home in Anaheim Hills, California—the neighborhood where Christina grew up—five years ago. While nice and spacious, the house's interiors were a bit outdated, from the original brown kitchen cabinetry to the small bathroom tub. The space no longer worked for the couple's growing family, and they were eager for a refresh.

"Taking on a project with a friend can be tricky," Christina acknowledged. "It could be amazing or could be a huge challenge. And in this case, it might be a challenge."

But it turned out to be amazing too. When Carlos and Natalie had differing opinions on topics such as the kitchen countertop color and the bathroom tub versus shower sizes, Christina and her project manager, James Bender, helped them find suitable compromises. The once-dark kitchen now boasts white cabinetry that's warmed up by a stone backsplash, a white oak island base, and white oak flooring. A pop-out kitchen window creates a better indoor-outdoor flow to the backyard. Nearby, the living room fireplace was transformed with the same stone used for the kitchen backsplash. The new bar area enhances the home's status as a party house. And in the main bathroom, the freestanding tub, bigger shower, and massive vanity create a luxurious oasis.

Now, and $209,179 later, the home has a modern feel with a rustic twist. It's much more functional for this growing family who loves to entertain.
